Pray...for the Peace of Jerusalem!
From the foreword (by Lars Enarson):
There are two cities in the world that the Lord commands every believer to pray for. The first one is the city where we live (Jer 29:7 and 1 Tim 2:1-2) and the second one is Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6). Sad to say, most believers still do not understand the importance of praying and interceding for Jerusalem. However, the truth is that the fate of Jerusalem
concerns every individual on this planet simply because only when Jerusalem is at peace will the world have peace. So we must care for Jerusalem and sow our prayers day and night for that city even if they will not be answered in our lifetime. Jerusalem is top priority for Jesus because it is His city. He himself called Jerusalem "The City of the Great King" in Matthew 5:35. It is the city He will return to as King of Kings and Lord of Lords when the leaders of Jerusalem cry out, "Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord." (Matt 23:39).
From the introduction:
This book is written primarily for those who have a heart for Israel and wish to pray for the peace of Jerusalem but simply don't know where to start (of course, those who do know where to start can also benefit from this book). Such a person may wish to be obedient to the command of Psalm 122: 6a (Pray for the peace of Jerusalem), but may sense that there has to be a more substantive approach to fulfilling this command than merely reciting Psalm 122:6. Indeed there is! The answer to this dilemma can be found in the Word of God.
It has long been known that the Scriptures are an excellent source for prayer of all kinds. Praying for the peace of Jerusalem is no exception. This book is the result of prayerfully researching the Scriptures in an attempt to locate, index and categorize references that directly or indirectly can be prayed in an intercessory manner for the peace of Jerusalem. The result of this research has yielded 300 Scripture-based prayers that have been composed, categorized and presented in this book.
